First time shooting at Boyne Hill House Estate in Co. Meath and what a wonderful location to celebrate a wedding. The occasion was the wedding of Cathy and Seán a super stylish couple as you will see form the images below that were captured on their special day. The bridal prep and groom prep took place onsite which was very convenient and meant I could pop between both preps to capture the photographs that were required to ultimately convey the story of their day. The Manor House on the Estate was where this took place and it was a beautiful sunny day with loads of light flooding through the tall windows that adorned the house, which is an absolute treasure for photographers, some of the rooms had directional light great for dramatic wedding images. Whilst other rooms offered up a more diffused light great for portraits of both bride and groom. Cathy and Seán were a very natural couple, easy going and just a pleasure to photograph they totally gave themselves over to the process. When you get a couple like this you know it’s going to be a great day at the office.
When I photograph a wedding I always like to give my couples a real eclectic mix of images from posed formal photographs, stylised portraits candid documentary images which all go into the melting pot to be served up as the unique story of each particular couples wedding day. I would not categorise my photography style as it is eclectic each wedding has a unique vibe and one or all of the previously mentioned approaches will be the right approach to tell the story. Cathy and Seán’s wedding flowed in such a way that all of the previously mentioned approaches were applicable. I normally like to use off camera flash on a wedding day as it gives a particular look but because the weather was so nice I think it was one of the hottest days in the year I found myself using the available light instead. It was a clear sunny blue sky, no clouds which meant the light was directional as opposed to diffused. If it was diffused light I would have used off camera flash to add some drama to the images being produced. It was a thoroughly enjoyable wedding to be a part of everything took place at the one location which meant there wasn’t the added pressure of travel which can have an impact on time schedules for a wedding day.
Boyne Hill House Estate is just a stunning location for a wedding and the beautiful summer evening that fell just added an atmospheric glow to the location. Summer evenings, good food, wine and some romance what more could you ask for oh and great wedding photographs also.
Below are a small selection of images from the day.
