I was thrilled to photograph the wedding of Aisling and Cathal over the Christmas holidays. Aisling and Cathal come from Bullaun and New Inn a region of Galway steeped in hurling and camogie history with Sarsfields being the relevant GAA Hurling Club. Both of whom being excellent camogie and hurling players and two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Just natural personalities with a great sense fun.
On the morning of the wedding day the bridal prep took place at Aisling’s parents’ home where I received a brilliant welcome just a few minutes from the Church where the ceremony was due to take place. There was just a natural easy-going vibe and the pictures flowed, funny candid moments along with some stylized wedding photographs. The hair and makeup ran to schedule which allowed me to capture some images of Aisling with her parents and bridesmaids along with some individual bridal portraits before she was due to leave for her wedding ceremony.
Met Cathal and his groomsmen at the church and captured some images of the boys prior to Aisling’s arrival. The bride is here a wedding a guest exclaimed just to keep me on my toes along with a cheeky wink. As in time honoured fashion Cathal scurried into the church as not to see his bride to be before their vows.
Their wedding ceremony was performed by a gentleman of a priest who also continued the theme of fun combined with the reference that such an occasion required.
Family photographs were done on the grounds of the church after the ceremony, always the best option as it frees up the bridal party for the rest of the wedding day. Also prevents any undue pressure at the wedding venue trying to gather family members for photographs prior to dinner call.
We also captured some pictures at the local pub called The Harbour Bar. Uniquely named as it is located in the middle of Galway countryside and quite a distance from any harbour.
The bridal photographs were captured at Rinville Park, Oranmore and the weather was just about on our side it literally started to rain as I took the last picture. Luckily for me no one got wet and hair and makeup was intact, the boys were delighted.
The Clayton Hotel on the outskirts of Galway City was the location for the wedding celebrations, a brilliant wedding venue with super friendly staff and great service.
Aisling and Cathal thanks for having me as your wedding wedding photographer, I thoroughly enjoyed your company and it was a pleasure to be part of your special day.
