Andrea and John were recently married in Co. Galway, Killimordaly to be exact. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side as it rained to whole day but that didn’t dampen any spirits. The morning started at Andrea’s bridal prep which took place at her house. The house was new build with a modern design with loads of natural light and white walls and because of the inclement weather outside the light was diffused and had the effect of turning the interior into a large source of soft light. High ISO was the order of the day and modern digital cameras have no issues with this approach to capturing the required images.
I also agreed to capture the groom prep which was taking place at John’s parents home roughly fifteen minutes away. So I worked quickly to get all of the bridal details photographed, wedding dress, wedding invitations, order of service, shoes, jewellery both individually and in a combination of flat lays. I also managed to capture some candid photographs of hair and makeup along with some fun shots of Andrea with her bridesmaids.
The I headed to John’s house for some prep pictures of him along with his groomsmen. I also managed to get some pictures of John with his parents which is always nice particularly at the family home where a lot of childhood memories were created. A wedding marks a new beginning in a person’s life but it’s also important to acknowledge another beginning albeit a past one.
After finishing in John’s home I head back to Andrea’s house to capture some bridal portraits and luckily for me she was just putting the final together with her bridal party when I arrived I couldn’t have timed it better. I even heard the father of the bride saying that it was great timing.
Great fun was being had I managed to capture a lot of natural photographs with great expressions. Andrea was just natural beauty and was very easy to photograph she a confidence that made the process so easy. Both the bride and groom had given each other presents and a letter to be opened before heading for the wedding ceremony, a few tears were shed, tears of joy.
There was a full house at the church where the wedding ceremony was taking place both John and Andrea came from prominent well known families and there was a large crowd in attendance. Fr. Raymond Sweeney presided over the nuptials a local Priest in this part of Galway, a truly lovely man and it’s always a pleasure to meet him super inclusive and great to be in his presence.
Family photographs were completed post ceremony, the rain was still falling so outdoor photographs were not an option. It was truly a case of being super alert to the opportunities that were presented to use daylight weather it was through a door entrance or window.
A small detour to the Earl Inn a local pub was followed by a bridal party photos in Raford House. Here again it was a case of squeezing as much of the natural light available into one’s camera. But luckily for me Andrea and John along with their bridal party were brilliant to work with and understood the importance of allowing the time to ensure photographs weren’t rushed ensuring that there was no compromising the outcome.
We then headed to The Loughrea Hotel & Spa for the wedding party and what a party it was one of the most liveliest weddings I have ever photographed.
Andrea and John thanks for having me photograph your wedding day it was and absolute pleasure.
