Recently had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Jennifer and Lyle who came all the way from The United States of America. Their destination wedding was held at Hags Head just a small drive from The Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. Their guest consisted of close family and friends a group of people that were great fun and pleasure to be in the company of.
The starting point was bride and groom prep which was taking place in The Doolin Inn and as the name suggests in the picturesque village of Doolin. I popped back and forth between both preps capturing some documentary images along with some grouping of family and friends.
When it was time to head to the ceremony location at Hags Head the weather wasn’t on our side, the ceremony was even put back by an hour as weather apps were saying it would change unfortunately the weather does not answer to any apps, well not in The West of Ireland anyway.
The rain was pouring down when we arrived so the decision was made to have the ceremony indoors, a converted barn became the location. What a lovely ceremony it was guided by the gentleman that is Dara Molloy a Celtic Celebrant who hails from The Aran Islands.
The hope of going to the outside location up on the cliffs afterwards for the photoshoot was in the back of everyone’s mind especially yours’ truly. Being in the barn actually worked out really well in my opinion as the ceremony became even more intimate and also gave me the contrast of differing locations.
The God’s were on our side as when the ceremony came to an end this also signalled the end of the bad weather, so we all headed up country road to Hags Head.
Wow this part of the world doesn’t disappoint it is truly stunning, the skies cleared and as everyone clambered off the coach you could see the amazement on the faces of the people. I was delighted for Jennifer and Lyle. We set about capturing some bridal portraits along with some family and friends groupings, everyone was in joyous form and so was I.
Later it was back to The Doolin Inn for dinner a really lovely location with friendly helpful staff and great food. The night was finished off in McGann’s Pub with great craic and Guinness.
It was a pleasure to be part of your wedding folks, thanks for having me.
Michael.
