Helen and Conor celebrated their wedding at one of Galway’s most stunning luxury wedding venues The Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate. It was a winter wedding just prior to Christmas and typical for that time of year the weather was not on our side, the rain just poured from the sky. Added to the fact that this time in Ireland dust creeps out around 4.30pm. So the approach from a wedding photography point of view had to be quick and efficient making the most of whatever pockets of clear sky and light were made available. Fortunately some were made available and with the brilliant co-operation of the bridal party we made the most of a bad weather situation. The bad weather didn’t dampen the spirits Helen or Conor as they were a great couple with brilliant attitudes. So whenever I suggested there was an opportunity to take some wedding pictures they were up for it.
No matter what time of year it would be and even with bad weather The Genlo Abbey Hotel & Estate is just a fabulous location to celebrate a wedding day. There are a multitude of locations both indoor and outdoor to make great wedding photographs. It is such a well-manicured location and the people who are responsible for its upkeep take great pride in their work. The wedding ceremony was held in Clifden, Co. Galway which was roughly an hours drive from Galway City and by the time we arrived at the hotel dusk was on the horizon, so we set about making the most of the limited amount of light we had available to us. I’ve photographed many weddings here and am very familiar with the best places to choose when it comes to creating the best wedding photographs possible. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of Helen and Conor’s wedding day they were a fabulous couple to work with. We made the most of the bad weather and got some stunning wedding photographs.
