Last October when restrictions were less say less restrictive I photographed the wedding of Emma and Shane in the very picturesque village of Doolin in Co. Clare.
Emma is a well-known makeup artist in her own right and would have encountered many talented photographers so when she chose me as her wedding photographer I took it as a great compliment. It also came with the responsibility of making sure that the photography lived up to Emma’s and Shane’s expectations. The morning prep started off in a beautiful stone cottage which just a stone’s throw pardon the pun from Doolin. The atmosphere was brilliant everybody was up for a bit of craic, Gavin from Dreamcatcher was there as he was shooting the wedding film. I’ve worked with Gavin many times over the years and it’s always a pleasure he is top of his game but also adds the element of fun which makes the whole process enjoyable and collaborative. Speaking of people who are at the top of their game I also have to pleasure of working with Natalie form Natalie O'Brien Bridal Hair and Ann Marie from Ann Marie Hughes Makeup Artist both great fun and excellent at what they do.
Emma was just stunning, elegant and well most importantly of all just a really lovely natural soul and nice person to be around, this could also be said of here bridal party which was made up of her sisters and mother. A really lovely group of people to be in the company of.
I met Shane and the boys up at Hotel Doolin where the ceremony was taking place. They were also full of fun and up for the craic. I knew it was going to be a great day, plus the weather was on our side as the sun shone for the whole day we were very lucky as this was after all Co. Clare in October (UP The Banner). After the ceremony we headed down past Doolin village for some bridal party pictures. Again as I said earlier the collaborative process kicked in and I managed to get some nuggets. I think it always good to have the mindset that it’s a collaborative process when photographing a wedding day, even if in some cases you are just flying solo with the bride and groom. If everybody feels part of the process the results speaks for themselves. Emma and Shane are a gorgeous natural couple, who gave themselves over to the process and I was delighted how their wedding pictures turned out.
When we had finished the shoot it was back to Hotel Doolin. I have to say the whole vibe around the hotel was just brilliant, great service and a genuinely warm welcome and very accommodating. I have a soft spot for county Clare I love the down to earth vibe it has particularly on the coast.
So here’s to less restrictions in the future and more I do’s.
Take care.
